Emma Rego Speaks at Trinny Woodall x eBay Fundraising Event for The King’s Trust

The King’s Trust Ultimate Designer Sale was one of those events that had everything. It was hosted in London and brought together some of the biggest names in fashion, press, celebrity ambassadors and supporters of the Trust for a truly special cause. The day was filled with energy and purpose. Guests could browse rails of designer pieces donated by top brands and public figures, all while enjoying live auctions, conversations and moments that felt both inspiring and meaningful. Every single element of the event was created to raise vital funds for the King’s Trust and to continue helping young people transform their lives.

I had the honour of being there as a Young Ambassador and of sharing my story on stage. Standing in that room surrounded by so many incredible people who all came together to make a difference was surreal. The atmosphere was full of warmth, laughter and generosity.

When I first joined the King’s Trust enterprise programme, I was just trying to find my way. I didn’t have the confidence I do now and I definitely didn’t imagine that one day I would be standing on stage speaking about my journey in front of such an inspiring audience. That programme completely changed my life. It gave me the tools and belief to start my own marketing agency, to build something from the ground up and to show up as myself with purpose and passion.

At the event I spoke from the heart. No script and no rehearsing, just my story. I talked about how much the Trust has done for me, from day one when I joined the enterprise programme to the support and opportunities that followed. I shared what it felt like to find my confidence again, to grow my business, and to be able to now inspire others who are just starting out like I once was.

By the end of the day, an incredible £367,000 had been raised. That number represents more than money. It means more young people will get the same chance I did to create something meaningful for themselves and their future.

Speaking at that event reminded me how powerful it is to just be yourself. The room was full of designers, supporters, press and ambassadors, but at the heart of it all were real stories and real lives being changed.

I walked away that day feeling proud and grateful. Proud to have been trusted to share my story and grateful to be part of something that continues to give young people hope and opportunity.

When I think back to the girl who joined the King’s Trust enterprise programme, nervous but full of dreams, I wish she could have seen this moment. Standing there as my true self, telling my story, and knowing that it might help someone else start theirs.
